Edit: the bard thing is a general build, a barb, monk, champ, or ranger will serve you a lot better in the frontline. A thaumaturge with mirror and regalia implements is the best marshal, hands down. But it depends on what you want to do as a marshal. Some are backline marshals, and some are frontline. Thaumaturge has a ton of great class feats too. I think this build works best in the rare campaign where you start at a fairly high level. You reduce the burden on ability scores and class feat tax substantially by either just picking up the Sentinel Dedication for a STR build, or using a DEX build and grabbing the Magus Dedicate + Raise a Tome.

DEX also patches the delayed reflex save on the thaumaturge. As a thaumaturge you effectively add a lot of static damage so your damage stat being delayed (STR vs. DEX) won't be felt that much.
