Having known personally about thefts from the previous generation, I can't find any evidence that the new Niro has improved anti theft tech. Keys didn't sleep when tested (although I haven't tried 30 mins as above) and Kia dealers apparently give away faraday pouches to direct consumer orders which suggest it's still vulnerable.I think the Niros all used anti theft. When you first put the key in and turn it on does it show an orange key symbol on the dash for 2 seconds ? If it does then it does have a transponder key.
